He sits at the front of the room, collecting tests as one by one his students finish and walk up to hand them in. He’s asked each of them to put their favorite ice cream on the first page, and so he reads them as the tests come in.

“Strawberry. Bubblegum. Strawberry cheesecake. Being simple, huh? Just chocolate? Rocky road,” he reads, in succession. He pauses as the next student turns in her test. “Also rocky road. Are you two best friends?”

“Yep,” they proclaim in unison. The teacher goes on reading. A short while later, he hears one of the girls say “I don’t like chocolate.”

“How is that so?” He asks. “Doesn’t rocky road have chocolate chips in it?”

“I eat around the chocolate chips and give them to her,” the girl replies, pointing at her friend.

“Huh. You guys really are best friends.” He ponders for a moment, and then continues to read off flavors of ice cream.
